Chola y Gitano is a World Music duo based in Punta Brava, on the coast of Valdivia. Their sound is inspired by Latin American and Flamenco rhythms, and their lyrics derive from the love and protection of planet Earth and its beings. They deliver a multi-disciplinary live performance, incorporating flamenco dance and poetry.
The duo was founded in 2013, building their first repertoire with Latin American songs compilations (Peruvian Waltz, Cueca, Landó, and Cuban Son). In 2017, they released their first EP, “Mi Estrella La Tierra,” which explores a hybrid sound featuring elements such as Tonada, transposed guitar, and Latin fusion.
In 2018, they took the album to the theater with the production “Perfo-concert Mi Estrella La Tierra,” where they collaborated with music duo Camila y Silvio. They toured through cities in the south of Chile and Argentina. In July 2022, they released their first LP, “Selva Soberana,” a Latin fusion folk album recorded, mixed, and mastered at Madre Selva studio.
