JUNO Award winner Quique Escamilla is a singer-songwriter of Mayan-Zapotec descent born and raised in Chiapas, Mexico. Today, he is an international artist and music producer based in Toronto. Quique fuses Latin American rhythms like huapango and cumbia with rock and reggae. He tells stories designed to raise the voices of Indigenous peoples throughout the Americas to decimate the effects of colonization, racism, and xenophobia around the world. Quique is the founder and curator of the Tlalli Festival outside of Toronto, Canada. The Tlalli Festival is an annual celebration presenting indigenous music, dance, and culinary recipes of the Americas, from Canada to Argentina.
