Nicolás Carrasco (a.k.a. Foex), is a music producer and founder of the independent record label Potoco Discos. With 18 years at the head of his own record company, he has participated in the release of more than 35 albums, making Potoco Discos the longest-running and most respected hip hop music label in Chile.
He has collaborated with several of the most prominent names in the country’s hip hop music scene, such as Hordatoj, Solo Di Medina, Makiza, Como Asesinar a Felipes, Epicentro, Liricistas, and Ana Tijoux, as a producer, and/or sound engineer.
In his records trends related to alternative hip hop, and electronic music with rhythmic dominance (such as Drum n ‘Bass) coexist harmoniously. No Soy Foex (2009) and De Madera (2015).
Since 2018, he has allowed himself to include an influence of Latin rhythms and sounds, first in his collaboration with producer Paulo Sapiain (Diáspora, 2018), then in his collaboration with Paulopulus Cronostasis Vol. 1 (2019), where they remixed songs of Chilean artists ranging from Shoegaze to Andean inspired hip hop and Welulkawn (2020), a musical tale about the tastes, influences and personal investigations of both producers that has a strong psychedelic imprint, Latin American percussions and experimental structures.
His latest solo album is Acúfenos (2020), in which he linked rhythmic patterns and instrumentation of different African-American styles, with electronic textures both synthesized and linked to samples.
He is currently preparing his sixth solo album, entitled Héctor Gallardo, which will be released during the first months of 2021.
