Roberto C. Lecaros, has a degree in musical education, is a double bassist and composer. He is an heir to the musical tradition of one of the most emblematic families of national jazz, and enters the classical scene as a member of the National Youth Symphony Orchestra of Chile, the Orchestra of the Institute of Music of Santiago, and the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipal Theater of Temuco, but it is in Jazz that he finally decides to develop his musical career, rapidly becoming one of the most outstanding interpreters of the new Chilean Jazz, playing with important musicians of the national and international scene, recording more than thirty albums and leading several groups under his name and Contracuarteto, a group with which he received the Pulsar Award (2019) in the category of best Jazz album for his third album “La Geometría del Aire”.
He is also a teacher of early music education, piano and double bass for children, in addition to his work in the field of cultural management as co-founder, artistic director and producer of “Animales en la Vía”, a label specializing in Jazz.
Contracuarteto is the group with which he received the Pulsar Award (2019) in the category of best jazz album for his third album “La Geometría del Aire”. Currently, he is involved in various musical and educational projects. This time, we will see him in a trio format, performing the music from his latest album “La Danza Invisible”, accompanied by the musicians Oscar Pizarro (piano) and Matías Mardones (drums).
