Formed in 1996 by Rodrigo Santis, Jorge Santis, and Walter Roblero, Congelador is one of the essential bands in the country’s independent rock scene. Their career has spanned more than two decades. They are responsible for seven studio albums and have a new one on the way. The trio is also behind the Quemasucabeza label, a benchmark in the indie and pop catalog that boosted the internationalization of Chilean music. With their latest works, “Cajón” (2013) and “Persona” (2016), the band has shown a constant evolution. That became particularly obvious in their performances at the Primavera Sound Santiago 2022 Festival, which followed their international experience in 2014 (Primavera Sound Barcelona) and opening shows for critical names in the foreign independent scene, such as Yo La Tengo or Stereolab.
