Chile – Santiago

One of the most notable bands to emerge in Santiago in the mid-2010s is Niños del Cerro, whose songs move between melancholic vibes, crystal-clear and reverberant guitar sounds, and nods to Latin American music. Across their 4 LP records and one EP, the band covers genres like indie rock, indie pop, and neo-psychedelia. Their incorporation of elements of Andean and Chilean folk music into their sound also stands out. In their live performance, fragments of post-rock bubble up, pop sparks fly, there are passages of math-rock, and moments when they almost come across as an “Andean Animal Collective”.
