Baluente
Valentina Ocampo Oyarzun, performing under the name Baluente, is a composer, clarinetist, and singer from Osorno based in Niebla on the coast of Valdivia. Her music combines Chilean folklore, hints of Latin American music, and electronic elements. She portrays encounters and experiences of villages and suburbs where she compiles part of a popular collective imagination from the south of Chile. Her musical genesis has its foundations in her family core. Her grandfather, a singer and composer from Campeche, played rancheras on the accordion, and her mother and sisters sang along with him. She accompanies herself on guitar, piano, and clarinet, as they are all instruments in her repertoire. Currently, she is a Musical and Sound Arts student at the Universidad Austral de Valdivia.
