Fluvial celebrates 10 years by spotlighting the best of Chile’s contemporary music scene

15 de October de 2026

Chile Takes Center Stage, with Valdivia as the Perfect Setting:

Fluvial celebrates 10 years by spotlighting the best of Chile’s contemporary music scene

From December 9 to 12, more than 50 musical projects and a significant part of Chile’s music ecosystem will gather in Valdivia for an event that has been connecting artists, industry professionals, and audiences for a decade. Congelador, María y Los Templos, Sofía Painiqueo, and Sebastián Vergara are among the artists joining an unmissable lineup that bridges generations, scenes, and territories.

This December 9, 10, 11, and 12, Fluvial will present approximately 55 live performances, with a program that places Chilean artists and musical projects firmly in the spotlight. Chile is the headliner, and Valdivia is the perfect city to host this gathering. “Fluvial would be a completely different conference if it took place in another city. Valdivia is not simply a backdrop; it is part of Fluvial itself. Over these ten years, we have built a relationship in which the event unfolds throughout the city, while the city, in turn, shapes the way Fluvial takes place. Its human scale, rivers, natural surroundings, cultural spaces, local businesses, universities, and the possibility of walking between activities create something essential: the time and conditions for meaningful encounters,” explain the organizers.

A decade of history, yet the focus is firmly on the present. “We want to celebrate by showcasing what is happening right now. That is why Chile is the headliner. Our program aims to offer a broader picture of the music being created today: different genres, generations, territories, scenes, and approaches to building an artistic career. We don’t want a single figure to define the event. The music scene itself is the protagonist,” they add.

Fluvial 2026: Territory and Community

Over four days, Fluvial will spread across Valdivia, taking over a variety of venues that reflect the event’s diverse ecosystem: creative industries, tourism, craft brewing, gastronomy, knowledge, and the arts, all deeply rooted in the local territory. “Fluvial has evolved beyond being just an event. It is now an ecosystem and a community of professionals and artists connected across the region, the country, and the world,” the organizers explain.

El Regreso Beer Company and Estación Bünemann will take center stage during Valdivia’s December afternoons and evenings, hosting networking gatherings and live concerts at their own breweries, where the craft beer helping position the region as Chile’s brewing capital is produced.

Espacio en Construcción returns as an established force in the city’s cultural life, offering a year-round program that supports emerging music and the arts within a historic building. The event’s network of venues also includes iconic locations such as Bar 55, Centro de Extensión Los Canelos UACh, Espacio Cultural La Leñera, Museo Histórico, Museo Philippi, the legendary Teatro Regional Cervantes, and the highly anticipated networking event aboard a Catamaran.

Universidad Austral de Chile, a fundamental partner in the organization of Fluvial, will play a key role in this tenth edition by encouraging greater participation from local residents and visitors alike. The university’s Campus Los Museos will be one of the event’s central locations. Bringing together music, cultural heritage, museology, and the city’s distinctive riverside landscape, the program will feature conferences, sound art exhibitions, and a variety of musical activities. On Saturday morning, the program will place a special emphasis on children and families with Fluvialito, before giving way to the vibrant colors and rhythms of world music during the afternoon.

And the best part? The university’s activities will be connected to the city through Parque Prochelle, a National Monument offering direct access to the Pedro de Valdivia Bridge.

The world’s attention is turning toward Chile, and Chile’s attention is turning toward Valdivia, where music is found not only on stage but around every corner. This is a special year, featuring a lineup that reflects the remarkable vitality of Chile’s music scene. Fluvial 2026 cannot be fully understood simply by looking at its artist lineup. It is an experience to be lived. The more than 16,000 attendees who have taken part over the past decade already know this: Fluvial is about encounters, discoveries, friendships, creative connections, and moments that continue to resonate long after everyone has returned home.

A decade of conversations to imagine the future

To mark its tenth anniversary, Fluvial will present a special curated program for its professional programming, bringing together for the first time the major themes that have shaped the evolution of the event and the music industry over the past decade.

Since its inception, Fluvial has understood that music engages with much more than just the industry itself. Musical urbanism, tourism, media, sustainability, First Nations, cultural revitalization, territories, creative ecosystems, audiovisual media, the nightlife economy, early childhood development, audience building, internationalization, and global networks have all been part of an ongoing conversation that has accompanied the event’s development and anticipated many of the discussions that now define the sector’s agenda.

In 2026, these themes will converge once again in a single program to examine what has changed, what lessons have been learned at each stage, and what the challenges of the next decade will be, solidifying Fluvial as one of the leading spaces for reflection, exchange, and promotion for the Latin American music industry.

Fluvial 2025©

Ten years after its inception, Fluvial celebrates a decade of promoting Chilean music from Valdivia to the world. What began as an independent event has solidified into an international platform for artists, a space for knowledge exchange and networking, and a community of professionals and artists in constant collaboration, helping to position Valdivia as a leading city for the Latin American music industry.

The 2026 edition encapsulates a decade that has seen the participation of over 3,000 professionals, more than 500 international delegates, and over 400 musical projects, with a tangible impact on the careers of numerous artists and professionals. Furthermore, it has generated economic and image benefits for the city and the Los Ríos Region, strengthening an intersectoral ecosystem at the national and regional levels. This edition commemorates this journey and opens a new chapter to further strengthen the international reach of Chilean music from the Southern Hemisphere.

Fluvial’s tenth anniversary is a celebration open to its entire community: artists, professionals, institutions, the public, and those who have been part of this story over the past decade.

KEY PARTNERSHIPS 2025

Fluvial 2024©

Fluvial 2025 is built through a network of partnerships that strengthen its territorial, professional, and international dimensions. This year, the support of Banco Santander as the official bank helps boost the professional activities and support the showcases held at Teatro Regional Cervantes, one of the event’s central venues.

At the institutional level, Sernatur Los Ríos and the Municipality of Valdivia reinforce the connection between the city, tourism, and culture, consolidating Valdivia as a creative hub and a meeting point for music and territory. The Regional Government of Los Ríos, through the FIC Creative and Tourism Hub Los Ríos project and FIC START Universidad Santo Tomás Valdivia, strengthens intersectoral collaboration and supports the internationalization of local products and services. Universidad Austral de Chile continues to serve as the academic and logistical anchor for the event, while the National Music Fund Secretariat of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, and ProChile have once again been key in developing Fluvial’s conference program and international guest agenda.

In the digital sphere, Fluvial integrates ONErpm, The Orchard, Random Sounds, Merlin, and the RONDA Cooperative—a combination that brings together global and cooperative models of distribution, services, and rights management for artists and labels. The Orchard is also supporting Fluvial’s sustainability initiatives, particularly the actions related to waste management and the elimination of single-use plastics.

The independent sector is represented through WIN, IMICHILE, the Electronic Music Guild (IME), and Chilemúsica, whose work in professional development, internationalization, and industry coordination sustains the delegate program, business meetings, and specialized networking.

In media and communications, Radio Futuro, Rockaxis, Solo Artistas Chilenos, and POTQ Magazine stand out as key partners who amplify the event’s reach and connect its content with national and international audiences.

From the south, collaborations with Ladera Volcán and the Festival Reino Fungi ecosystem reinforce the relationship between music, nature, and territory, integrating creative scenes from Araucanía and the lake district.

Finally, the support of CONADI, ProChile, and the Embassy of Canada in Chile broadens international presence and strengthens the program dedicated to Indigenous Peoples and First Nations, reinforcing pan-American cultural cooperation.

These partnerships enhance the international, territorial, and professional dimensions of Fluvial, expanding its impact and projection within the independent music ecosystem.

In the digital field, Sylvie Piccolotto of ONErpm, Antonio Acevedo from The Orchard, and Víctor Schlesinger from Ronda Co-op join the program, contributing complementary visions on distribution, digital governance, fair economy, and alternative models for the independent ecosystem.

In a dedicated block, the renowned manager Leonardo Pavkovic joins Fluvial. Founder of MoonJune Records and director of the MoonJune Festival, Pavkovic has spent more than two decades fostering global circulation for emblematic artists such as Soft Machine and Tony Levin (King Crimson, Peter Gabriel), connecting Fluvial with high-level international networks in advanced music, improvisation, and experimental scenes.

This announcement also includes Mathieu Rousseau, Senior Manager of Booking, Concerts & Events at Spectra, responsible for programming the Montréal International Jazz Festival—the largest jazz festival in the world.
